Song of the Day #95 – Special Agent (Sleepy John Estes)

How about a little open C tuning blues? Open C is probably the third most common open tuning used for blues music, mainly on 12 string guitars and gives a signature droning sound. This tune comes from Tennessee born Sleepy John Estes. Estes recorded mainly between 1929 and 1941 then recorded two songs at Sun Studio in 1952 before being rediscovered during the 1960’s folk revival (though his rediscovery was delayed due to rumors he had died).
